I'm trying to source some reasonably cheap ratchet straps to secure my bikes to the trailer. There's plenty of ratchet straps available on ebay with hooks on the ends, but I've heard stories if these bouncing off so want to get some with either a loop that I can fasten or a clip/caribiner type end that can latch on, or some combination there of.

I can't seem to find any at a reasonable (read cheap) price, the cheapest I can find is about £12 a strap. Anyone know of a supplier where I can get a bunch of them (8 of) more cheaply?

I used the ones that come with a hook end, then just slip the crab through the loop in the webbing that holds the hook.....don't be tempted to put the crab through the triangular hole of the hook itself (if it's a bent metal hook) 'cos they are not welded .........any decent amount of force will open up the two ends of the bent rod and pull out, IYSWIM.

PS go to any BMW bike dealer and ask them nicely for some of the white tie down straps that come with crated bikes.......they will usually give you half a dozen or more free, and they are plenty strong enough to lash a bike onto a trailer, as well as being a lot more user friendly that a ratchet strap.

Clas Oslon is another place. Fairly priced but what I liked is that they are TUV approved. So not cheap shite. But cheap ish good quality.

Fill your boots mate. See HERE :thumb2

Or just the strap .... HERE

I've had hooks bounce loose (and feckin embarrassing it was too I can tell you) :tears so if you've only got hooks, just use a small cable tie to secure it in place. The tie isn't taking any pressure - it's just holding a hook in place. :thumb2

My local Triumph shop sells their crate straps for £2 each. At the time, I didn't notice there wasn't a hook nor a loops nor an extra strap but they're long enough to tie from the trailer to the forks & back through the racket.
Today, I spotted a pair of the hook type in B&Q today @ £20 for two
Then later, in Lidl, saw a packet of 4 for (?) £20

Good tip about the BMW shop :)
