Does anyone have any experiance using this belt/handle device for a pillion? My wife has just starting riding pillion and I'm wondering if this would provide her with some addtional confidence.

Yes I have used them for a few years with my partner and my daughter till they get confidence and they work will and also very comfortable.

Make sure you get them as low as possible to allow less movement on your back and giving lower centre of gravity.

good luck

My partner used them for a while, but found she was gripping harder with her hands when I braked, and she couldn't always feel what I was doing. So she just took them off and placed her hands on my hips, then she could feel what my body was doing.
Now she justs places her hands at the side of my thighs. And I forget sometimes that she's there

Probably don't need to tell you but you have to accelerate and brake smoother when you have a pillion on the back.

I got a set for my wife to try, but she did not like them. We found that even though the belt was tight around my waist, the handles had a lot of movement in them. I still have mine, if you want them you can have them. I live near Reading and work in Guildford so if you want to collect them or arrange to meet up let me know.

Got two sets one pair that i cant seem to get rid of :blast

and the other pair is an Oxford set of love handles that my daughter uses, as she is the only one that is daft enough to go on the back of the bike with me

but i would get the ones with the solid plastic grips, the grips on mine are webbing and plastic, which sometimes gives too much movement

No Andrew,No:blast

The only purpose these things serve is that your wife remains on the bike with you for the duration of the trip:nono:nono

Much better when they fall off (unhurt:augie) and then refuse to go out with you again:thumb2

Best option is a large piece of velcro on the rear of your jacket and the reverse velcro on the front of her jacket or a simpler option (but more expensive) is the trusty top box.

Good luck with the pillion work:thumb2

Erm, Stick a warning sign for the paramedics ( in case of a spill) they may mistake them for ears & try mouth to mouth.....

My Mrs used to pillion with one of her arms round my waist & a hand on my bollocks.
She'd grip for slow & relax for speed up:eek
You want to know about 'confidence'!? ....She had it, I didn't:tears
