Low fuel - what warnings are given?

As my bike had had the snip,

What warnings do i get re low fuel?

I'm doing a brim, empty, brim test to see the range

(currently on 91 miles and 2 bars left on the gauge)

I want to do a motorway hop tomorrow, say 40 miles ...

do i get any other warning (if its the flashing triangle, that wont work lol, see my first line)

Mine does 200 miles on a full tank and the warning triangle comes at 40 miles range left.
2006 bike, not ridding hard.
Fuel gauge stays on full to about 120 miles done, then drops to 3 or 2 bars.

I have no idea what your on about, has had the snip, flashing triangle doesn't work but fuel gauge still works. You should get a "fuel!" warning on the dash but that comes on with the triangle. If you don't get that then when the engine stops your out of fuel. FWIW unless you always drive the same on the same roads working out the range is pointless if not impossible. The range varies wildly on these bikes.

Snip = servoectomy, so the flashing triangle no longer works. hence i wondered what else shows up

Ok then you should still get the fuel warning in the LCD

I get about 35 miles once the triangle comes on. Around 170 miles in all.

This is exactly 1hat I was thinking, just stick a fuel can in somewhere and run it to see what happens, simples!

You're sounding a bit odd writing this post!

If you are going to run dry you are going to need to strap a can on at some time, or will you just keep posting more and more as you get closer looking for directions from those who are not even sat on your bike - we don't want to hear back until you have completed your quest

Not really lol, Just dont fancy pushing 250kg of dead bike xx miles to a petrol station lol if i run out.

at least if i get a combi warning that i can see, ive a fighhting chance to get to a petrol station.

last time i ran out it was a 5 mile push with a lot lighter bike, and that was a sh*tter as i had two bridges to cross!!

Yes i did get a warning, but i was on fumes by then, (forgot to turn from res beck to norm and ran the fecker dry lol)

This is why I fitted my float stick gauge. I also have a Givi 2.5 litre fuel can but since fitting the gauge haven't needed it.
It fits on the wheel side of the RHS side case frame.

Why not just fill it now, 100 miles is enough to get an average.

Average is great when you do consistent journeys. Mine vary from mostly motorway to mostly A/B roads fuel use varies a lot.
As said earlier I've had 270 miles from 34 litres. Another time it would be 340 miles or more.

The only true way to find out Is to strap a gallon can on and ride till you stop. Why worry what you look like, you only need to do it once, but you Will know what You get. Just ride the way you normally do, that way youll know within reason whats the worst to expect.

The idea was to do it just the once to see what warnings, if any, you get before you run out,
This would then answer your initial question,
You would look even more odd pushing your bike when it runs out of fuel

Mine sometimes coughs about 1/2 mile before it stops. More likely it just stops. Ideally about 1/2 way over a traffic light junction.

Don't think the motorway is the safest place to carry out this test for obvious reasons.

Well i did another 15 miles & brimmed again before hitting the Mway

It took £14, which suggests just over a gallon left in the tank

By my crude calculations 108 miles ..

I then did the Mway x2 and back home using A roads av speed 65mph

its showing 50 miles on the clock and still on full,

I'll start the 7 mile commute run tomorrow and get an average for that .
