The plan is to get a F650 GS Dakar and meander down the coast of West Africa later in the year. I've been able to solve the problem of low grade petrol on the 1150 GS by replacing the cat with a Y piece and changing the plug. How do I solve it with the 650?

:) :) We should take note of the weather. It pays no attention to criticism :) :)

You shouldn't need to do anything to it...

You'll lose a little power, as you do on the 1150 with a Y piece but they still run OK.

The 650s only really seem to suffer starting at altitude but that shouldn't be a problem where you're going.

I'm not a big expert on the 650s but I know people who've travelled across latin america on them without any significant mods from factory standard.

I'm sure someone else will be along to reassure/panic you in a minute...
