Got a bit slack with checking my oil, I didn't check it to closely this week. I tend to run the oil at the centre of the red circle. Just did the five minute check (put the bike on the sidestand also-re:oil from the cooler etc) on a warm engine and no oil visable:eek: I would guess it's gone from somewhere from about the middle of the red circle to no oil visable in 400miles.
Put 700ml of oil in to get it to the top of the red circle. I remember a thread that said from top to bottom is 500ml. So I was probably 200ml under the red circle. What do you think, would I have done any damage:blast

Bike is 08 1200GS almost used 2 litres in 5000miles.

Actually it was probably around 600ml (700ml being worst case) that I added and I had no oil warning lights, I've got the computer level indicator thingy. Hopeing I've got away with it as a warning to keep a closer eye on the oil:eek

oil

hi shadude
when the oil is at the bottom line ,still 3 ltrs in the sump ,so would not worry just top up:) . the bike needs to be hot to check properly and on level ground , the bike needs to be on the main stand so the bike is level. leave for 10 mins then top up if necessary:thumb2. the gs will give all sorts of readings if not hot and only ran for a few minutes :confused:.
hope this helps .:) pb

Thanks pistonbrokescooby. Thats what I was hoping. I think I'll keep the oil above the halfway mark in future.
