my R100GS is fitted with a low mudguard. I'll be fitting an oil cooler relocation kit and for this the low guard is nice as it allows airflow to the cooler. I do however prefer the look of the high mudguard.
So how does one choose between what looks cool and what is more practical :augie

What do you think?

You could probably have both , if you really wanted.

But if you need the high one for clearance in mud then you are just going to have to put up with the cooler plastered with mud.

I've fitted the high one on mine. Looks better but seriously effects handling over 100 MPH

'Affects'...ahem. ;) :augie

Even funnier was using the words 'handling' and 'over 100mph' in conjunction with an Airhead. :D

Rob...and anyone else...if you have a high mounted plastic mudguard, fit a 'fender brace' to it and it`ll stop the mudguard from doing the hokey cokey at speed.
If you`ve still got pics of my old LegoBike you`ll see the one I fitted.

They can be bought from Dirt Bike shops...or very easily fabricated.

Spelling or grammar were never my strong points :comfort

Mine has 52 BHP at the back wheel I'll have you know. More than enough to make swift progress....Unfortunately it handles like a super market trolley

High Guard with oil cooler slots!

I think it was made by Acerbis................I've got one on mine that will be for sale as soon as I've got the original repainted (along with the rest)

I have the San Jose brace on my GS , under the low guard, and it works OK. But I must admit the low guard is an ugly item.

On the G/S I fitted a Flatracer tubular brace and low short front guard,
I like it and everybody who comments seems to like it too.

And the brace works very well .

Only just clears the 21" Distanza so probably not a good choice if you plan on mud plugging.

Had both fitted on mine...... looked fine although mine never went of road so the restriction of the lower one was of no concern to me.

I have never owned a camera.

Or a mobile phone or a pair of sunglasses for that matter.

But next time Nicole is over I will try and get her to take some pics on her phone and put them somewhere I can link to - probably the Royal Enfield Club site.

purchased an Acerbis Nost front fender today. Apparently this is the replacement of the Acerbis Baja fender

Where did you buy it? Has it got any holes for cooling the oil cooler?

I'm in NZ mate, so I bought it here in Auckland. They are a fairly common acerbis item though. There are no cooling holes, though acerbis does sell a seperate item to be installed for cooling.
