In the past I've tried lowered footpegs but they all move the footpeg forwards to some extent. With my big feet I've ended up knocking the float bowls off.

Just bought a set from Germany and so far they seem very good. They drop the footpeg down 6.5cm and backwards by 1cm making for a very comfortable ride instead of the usual folded up Air head GS position. I Have had exactly the same problem on my G/S as you, and had (until now!) given up hope of finding an off the shelf option. Many thanks (and my knees say thanks too!)
 
Oops forgot to ask - are your ones the "oversize" 52mm wide ones, or the standard 42mm ones?

Mine are the standard 42mm

I've been struggling to ride both of my gs since tearing a ligament a couple of years ago. All fine with these pegs they make a big difference.

EU 144-- that is Athens money!

The footrest lugs are 19mm apart , and the PO of my G/S , who was a truck mechanic in a large saw mill , made set of really low pegs out of 19mm SHS and a some serrated strip, presumably a stock item in the truck repair industry.
They were really low, and I couldnt get a decent gear change or brake position, so I ended up replacing them with budget priced "parts unlimited" Yam YZ pegs which are long and wide, and a little lower, and the extra length makes a big difference if you like to sit but also steer as much as possible by weighting the pegs.
 
It isn't cheap but it's the difference between being able to ride an airhead gas any distance or not. Money well spent I reckon.
 
I have the SWT pegs which look the same as Mr.Farmer's

the position is great for both sitting and standing, although I would ultimately like a bigger peg for all-day standing comfort

Do the Motobau ones come with the springs? It's not mentioned on the site.
 
I treated my self to a set for my second gs
bought from swt sports 130 Euro inkl postage
they arived within 2 days and look a nice bit of kit:thumby:
 
I f you have the strengthened side stand as on mine (I will get a pic) the strengthening metal brace gets in the way of the dropped bit of the footpeg - suspect I'll have to settle for bar risers. I do get back ache on the GS, but it takes a 150+ miles or perhaps 2 hours and a bit before it gets bad.. take more breaks
 
I was so pleased with my first set of lowered pegs that I ordered another pair for my other GS. Unfortunately these are either for another bike or have been made wrong. Looks like theres a quality issue at MotoBau. I'll be testing the quality of their customer service.

You would think that after all of these years someone would come up with a better solution than the springs. Interested to hear how you get on Rob. I was about to pull the trigger on a pair but may wait and see how it all turns out.
