BMW Motorrad’s Motorcycle Marketing Manger Tony Jakeman said: "Since its launch in 2002, the R1150 GS Adventure has been an incredible success. As well as being the natural choice of adventure motorcyclists everywhere, we also use them for our award-winning World of BMW Off-Road Skills courses in south Wales. This year is the 25th anniversary of the GS range, so anyone purchasing this particular version of the Adventure will be buying into part of BMW’s heritage."

There will only be 90 Special Edition R1150 GS Adventures allocated to the UK and they will be available in a unique alpine white and blue colour scheme with a grey and blue seat. And for those wishing to ride a R1150 GS Adventure Special Edition to the back of beyond, off-road tyres can be fitted (as an option) by BMW, for no additional cost.

Have mine two weeks now. Its the same as my last adv only a different colour and cheaper :D :D :D . BMW heritage.....mmmm is that an oxymoron ?

Ive done it, just ordered mine! After months of will I / wont I, and lurking around this site! It should be available around 10th August.

I have placed the order with Prestige, Bexleyheath, there doesnt seem to be much about them in the forums, but they seemed OK from the sales point of view, not too thrusty, but interested and helpful.

They made just that little bit more effort to get me an exceptable trade in figure, that secured the deal. I would have walked away if they had'nt and they didnt know that.

I think the colours work better in the flesh then in the promo pictures. I probably would have ordered a black one, but would you believe the standard colours are actually more expensive, with the extras, then the ltd edition!

Looked hard at the 1200, but it just wasnt quite what I wanted from a GS, no doubt Ill be kicking myself when the new 1200ADV finally arrives!

Trading the Blackbird, which has been a tough decision, and I hope I dont miss the power and competency of the old girl. The GS has been the only bike Ive had the "itch" for, for quite some time.

From the test rides I think I will need some,"Torbinators", and I shall probably buy hard luggage, although I gather there is a low opinion of the BMW extras, is this just because of the cost, or is durability and size an issue as well?

Roll on August!(':D')

Based on past owners experience you will be happy you got the 1150. This one is my third & I still enjoy every day out on it. By the time you are ready to change again BMW will have got the 1200 adventure just about right and will have ironed out all the problems :D :D :D

Do you think that the 1200GS is easier to come to terms with if your background was only Jap sports bikes? I know this doesnt apply to everyone who buys a 1200, but there must be people who would never have bought BMW until it came along.

From the roadtests that I read, the 1200 seems to have a greater sports bias then the 1150 had, (mind they were written by bike journo's!)

I feel a little bit like im swimming against the tide of progress knowingly spending so much money on a bike that probably wont be made in a years time.

Still having watched to video clips of the chap blasting around the IoM TT circuit on his 1150, I think I am going to have fun!

(Anyone want to buy used Rover 200!':D')

I missed the easy, big power of mine for a while, (still do occasionally for overtakes), but you can use much more of the power you have, more of the time on the GS. Your licence will stop sweating, and your grin'll be wider :D Promise! 2 years later, I've never considered swapping back, can't see why I ever would. :)

Hello all,
Well I pickied up my LTD GSA last week after finally taking the plunge, 600 mile service due at vines tomorrow. Previous bikes have been Jap sports and so far am not regretting it one bit, just love all that torque, and I haven't been over 4500rpm yet! Roll on tomorrow.
