This is Luddite calling Geeks.

Now then Lads to say I am a Luddite is probably insulting a genuine Luddite.

I have been given a Readers Digest French language course on 25 cassettes.
I would like to put them on to CD disc's.
Is there anybody out there who could tell me if it is possible to do this, I imagine it must be.

If you could write any replies in very simple English language no tec' jargon please, If you imagine you are trying to teach a Parrot with a stutter to talk you are on the required level.

Even with a complete explanation in words of 2 letters, I would probably end up speaking Spanish. So it would be better still if there is anybody out there who could take the cassettes and do it for me. I would be eternally gratefull. I am willing to pay a fair rate to have the job done.

I use Audacity (it's a free download from here) and this programme will help you record. I have used it and it's fairly simple.

A trio of good sound advice thank you kind sirs.

I had an accident the other week I spilled a pot of tea on to my open laptop.

I tried saving it, I dried it out using a cool hair dryer. However all was in vain the Key board was only working on certain keys and other things would not log on. A quick visit to the local IT shop confirmed it was knacked.

There are times life seems a bag of crap. However a good result was had from the ins' company, 2 weeks after contacting them and they have paid up £550 in the form of a credit account in my name at Comet, not the shop I would have picked by choice, but, beggar's cannot be choosers.

I went into Comet today bought myself a desk top set up, It is the only time in my life that I have met people who know less about com-p's than I do and they were selling me one, if a guy is a expert on Dyson why do Comet presume he can also sell computers, they were a bunch of complete pucking morons. I had my list I new what I wanted I new how much to pay for it and I had the list of Q's and the answers I wanted a couple of quick phone calls for further advice and I was walking out with my boxes. The new one has 50% more power than I had on the lap top (The laptop that never moved from the desktop I work at in its 2 year life) it has a pile of other things that mean sweet fanny Adams to me, but is essential to make the kit complete it is also I'm told a lot easier and cheaper to upgrade when the time comes. You get a lot more for your brass than you do with a L/T. It has Vista included and a Microsoft 7 upgrade, which I was advised to leave for a few months, while they sort out any glitches that crop up. I also got a TV plug-in thingy, and talked them out of a Microsoft wireless keyboard and laser mouse £58. It was as hard as talking a vegetarian into eating a bacon butty but they came across in the end. And I still have £68 credit left. Nice one Squirrel.

The advice I have received may be a load of Pollocks, but it sounded OK to me and was far more than I knew. It's a bit like the blind man wondering of the path and near to the cliff edge, when a deaf and speechless man stops to help him get back to the path. He just has to hope the mute is not blind as well.

I have a guy coming to set it all up for me in the morn'. I will have him look through your suggestions and take it from there. I'll keep you all updated with my progress, or my lack of it.
Cheers lads Bonjour Pete
