Thinking of getting the ally boxes covered. Under a year old and starting to look used. Givi 58ltr outback topbox is looking much the same.

I know some have had them wrapped, but was wondering what the costs are roughly. Tried search, but no success on pricing.

Cheers.

Ok I did mine myself and got decent results but it's time consuming. Have a look on Humvee (off this site) site as he does a kit which covers most of the box without the tricky edges but gives a nice fresh look and protection.

I've seen the kits that leave a small edge of ally showing to aid easy fitting. It just doesn't appeal to be honest, as I've seen one done properly and it looked the nuts.

A mate has just had his Varios panniers wrapped, alli bit only.

£40 for the pair.

Buy decent 3M stuff and have a go yourself, it is reversible.
I'm doing my fuel tank side panels at the moment which are quite difficult but patience and a hair dryer do the trick.

What colour vinyl are you using? there are a lot of curves going different ways so good luck!

+1 for the kit. I got mine from signature custom designs before humvee did theirs. Paid more as well.:blast

It's an easy job to do, once you get into it.

I did my tank with 3M brushed metal finish Anthracite colour (it's good material but very expensive at around £50.00 to do both tank sides), it came out ok but I wasn't 100% happy with it as there were 1 or 2 minor creases I couldn't smooth out to my satisfaction so took it off again, the tank panel is a complex curve and is not particularly novice friendly to wrap in my opinion, I'd do it again but would get a pro or someone with more experience than I to do it next time.

The black tank on the blue bike is the best colour combo IMHO

I covered the boxes myself it's a bit fiddly but I'm very pleased with the results. I got the Matt black vinyl from here http://www.mdpsupplies.co.uk/vehiclewrappingmatt.asp

You might find a car wrape specialist to cover them for you but I would imagine it's quite expensive as its time consuming.

just a word on the vinyl, its like everything else, the more you spend the better product you get. I used a cheep white vinyl from MD supplies on my first GS and it went brittle in the sun after 8 months.

Looks good, you've got some patience, going around all the rivet heads and the legacy hooks!

That's interesting, did you use the Airelease for cars?

I feel a project coming on.
