Luggage

I quite like the idea... keeps the weight low down, the pillion doesn't need to be lowered into position by crane, and it's a handy height for loading/unloading. Also puts less strain on the rear suspension/frame as the weight isn't there anymore.
Don't see how it makes anyone a lesser biker in anyway.

Cheers

Matt

I'm not saying it makes anyone a lesser biker, but for me the bike stops being so much of a bike. Each to their own though :)

Ah, fair enough :D

In some situations I think it would actually be better than a loaded up bike. It's all choice and choice is good :D

I never really gave trailers much thought, untill about ten years ago when I followed a hooligan on a goldwing with one.Filtering, you've never seen anything like it,and the same goes for the corners as well.

A mate has one for his Harley, and he bungs all his camping gear in there, and when he has camped out,the trailer gets abandoned, and off he goes.He loves it.

Right them, are we going to have a "build a trailer" do then.I think several collective heads here could build a pretty smart job for less than a couple of grand, and if more people want one,the cheaper they get.

we used to have trailers at city link couriers back in the late 80's with Kawasaki gt 550.no probs with them all over the city.

Last person I spoke to who had a trailer was using it on the back of an ST1100. It was a basic chassis using twin small wheels and mounting a 200 or 300 litre Thule car roof boxcar. He had a small rack on the top of it for the tent.
It meant the family could go away on a fortnights continental tour with him on the ST with one teenager on the back and his wife on the second smaller bike with the second kid.
It meant that the second bike didn't need to be packed up to the gunnels.
As I say it was narrower than mine with the panniers on but the problem was continental speed restrictions

You say "continental speed restrictions" as though there are no speed restrictions in the UK for trailers.

National Speed limit roads are 50Mph when towing
Dual Carriageways and Motorways are 60Mph when towing.

Also you can only use lane 1 and 2 on motorways.
