Hi,

This is my first post as yesterday I went and finally ordered a new 1200GS. What information I would like is some help with luggage. My other half does not like the look of the BMW panniers and I have a set of Non Fango 840 side cases in my loft, which she does like. Has anybody fitted these to a 1200GS, is a fitting kit (side rails only) available and if so any chance of some pictures?

Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

System cases

Hi Andy, sorry I can't help you with the fitting of the non fango 840's as I've only used BMW cases made for the bike. The best part about them is that when you use the bike without them on, there isn't any unsightly frame work. However the new 1200 casses aren't water proof so bags will be needed.

 You pay £750 quid for a set of luggage and its not waterproof? What the *** are BMW playing at?

I'm glad I didn't order any with the bike in that case.

Counting down to June 4th...

I use 840s and a 850 top box on my 1150, you can I,m sure get a fitting kit for the 12 but they look nasty! I would go for something like metai mules if I was doing it again!!

Just read another post (in Technical > 1200GS ?) that someone reported leaking panniers to their dealer and got a new set f.o.c.

My GS12 OEM panniers have been though hail rain floods etc etc, they are nice and waterproof, Extended they carry most of the weeky shop as well..:beerjug:

I have had r1200gs panniers for nine months - travelled in torrential rain many times, in normal and extended mode and they have remained as dry as a bone (touch wood). Purchased the BMW inners a couple of weeks ago - mini suitcases that are brilliant for touring.
