Well the time to head to France is nearly upon me. The bag is getting final bits packed and strapped to the bike this evening.

Tomorrow morning, I am booked for a ride on the Le Shuttle at 06:24, it is a 2 hour jaunt for me door to door. Allowing for 1 hour check in time, I has to leave the house by 02:45am. So that’s an early bed tonight for me then.

As if by magic, a 35 minute ride on the train and by the time I will arrive in France will see me gain 1 hour, with ETA being 07:59am local.

From there on, I shall make my way to the coast via the quickest route possible and stick with it for the rest of the day before reaching St. Malo, where I am due to meet the Captain at the port gates…. He’s not due to dock until 21:15, so I have plenty of time to have a leisurely but rather long day in the saddle.
I will be pulling a few pages from Wapping’s travel book, visiting some of the sights and towns along the way.

Weather isn’t looking terrible at all for the duration of our jaunt. High teens, low twenties, with big blue skies being forecast. The coolest day so far will be tomorrow along the coast but we’ll be heading an hour inland where mercury will rise a bit higher…

More later…

Have a good one Ev. Safe travels.

After many years of early mornings, I started leaving on Friday after work (9 to 5 here) and sleeping near-ish Calais, always the same place. I discovered another dimension :D
You gain so much time/mileage.

Apart from that unwanted pearl of "wisdom". Have a good one Ev, and The Captain.

The fleece is

Enjoy you both! The trip, not the fleece.

You know, just like your suggestion and despite reading multiple of Wapping’s ride reports, and his advice of staying the night in France. It has dawned upon me, that I should’ve done just that, but only after I’ve booked the bloody tickets :blast

but only after I’ve booked the bloody tickets

In the last 2 years I think I crossed (between car and bike) probably 15 times.
I am not gonna disclose how many times I booked the wrong day :D :D :D

Best I've done, a few years ago just before Covid I was in Paris for work as I would travel regularly there.
Couldn't check-in at the Eurostar in the evening.
I started getting annoyed at the staff as no one could manage to make me get though despite me being perfectly on time... until one of the guys pointed out: "Sir, this ticket... yes it is for 8 o' clock, but AM". :D
Humble pill and few hundred quid later I was on the train.

You colour blind.
At least I see things in colour rather than everything has to be black .

Just boarding . Can anybody tell what’s unusual about the Beetle in front ?

Quite how I managed it, even the tunnel staff didnt know but....I once booked two outward journeys on a return ticket. Arriving at Coquelles and trying to get my booking ref to work seemed hard work....

Anyway...have a good trip Evski and Arsey

I was chatting to the Beetle owner . He won it in an auction so I googled it .
Looked very cool.
