Interesting and logical evolution of a Dirt focussed model, 21 inch front wheel. šŸ‘€

Great. ..but, surely the market would be for 17ā€ front wheel before 21ā€ ?
I think the market is for cheaper, more relevant bikes.
BMW seem to be in cloud cuckoo land producing ever more ridiculous bollox.
Who really wants to pay probably nearly £30k for a tarted up 1300 when other manufacturers are now producing class-leading 1000cc adventure bikes for under £9k ? Including heated grips and seat , cruise, TPMS, Apple CarPlay nav etc etc .
Obviously there’ll be a few on here but I think BMW need a rethink or get left behind in the future .
Take a look in the CF Moto section -MCN just pitched the 1000MTX against the latest Africa Twin and Tiger 900.
The CF Moto was the stand out test winner, before even considering the massive price difference of over £5k.
Now obviously not many prospective GS owners would even consider a Chinese made bike . Because they’re utter shite and will lose 90% of their value when wheeled out of the showroom.I read it here . It’s utter bollox of course, but this is UKGSER after all.
But in the real world those with disposable income tend to be getting older and don’t really want or need a big Ā£25k 1300. But in the UK, peer pressure and the ridiculous need to fit in to a perceived group means many are riding the wrong bike .

Germany and the UK will be the last bastion of the mighty GS.
The rest of Europe aren’t so blinkered .

Plenty €30k GS around in Europe There will be a market still for the high end stuff.
Using shared platform keeps prices down for manufacture, engine, frame..for example.
So what could be different on an M version? Wheels, suspension units, paint…maybe brake callipers. Plenty people will put their name down on a waiting list now if BMW announced such a bike, me included.

UK market is in general decline, due to biker numbers, legislation and money. Plenty other markets are still healthy.
Whilst I see Chinese bikes gaining ground, I still do not see a motorcycle they produce that I want, yet. Also, they can be cheap as chips, it does not mean they will hit GS sales numbers in the UK. Dont forget the demographic. Older, mortgage paid etc as new/young biker numbers are dwindling.
Practical and cheap Chinese I hear. People want brand names, performance, after market parts, meaningful guarantees, resale..parts availability..dare I say some street cred. Even old folks like a bit street cred ;)

You mean like losing Ā£8k in 8 months trading ā€˜up’ from a 1300GS to a GSA ? šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø
Chinese bikes won’t hit GS sales as many GS buyers won’t consider anything else .
But the market is changing . Not everybody wants or needs a heavy GS costing more than many cars .

As one of the sites serial swappers I’d imagine you’ve lost a few quid yourself along the way

You also happen have a 30 grand Ducati with an exhaust pipe that cost more than some Chinese bikes, I know there’s a back story and I’m not knocking it at all, just saying, you pays your money and all that :nenau

True , though I paid nothing like full price for it and certainly wouldn’t have specced an exhaust that cost twice as much as my latest bike .
And yes I’ve lost money on bikes but my comment was more aimed at those that seem to think a GS depreciates less than other bikes when real world evidence proves that is plainly bollox 😜

Some people buy cars costing more than other peoples houses. JJH

I wear a Casio, but if I had the disposable, damn right I’d buy a deep sea.

But apparently I’m still blinkered.

Not everyone pays full wack, some of us are careful. I dont think this forum or, for example, the Ducati forum has many people seriously interested in budget bikes. Full price or not.
My GS still has value. Unlike a two year old Chinese motorcycle, or KTM…
But that is nothing to do with an M1300gs. I would buy one. Currently, no Chinese motorcycle is of interest.
Motorcycles are still a passion for me. I could not raise a smile, let alone anything else for their current offerings.

Sorry but don’t agree . Many on here are downsizing . A number have bought ADV350s and Himalayans recently .
I lost less money on a Voge 900 than I have on most bikes .
Actual experience rather than an ill conceived view based on the outdated ā€œ it’s Chinese so it’s shite ā€œ opinion .
In two years time I bet you the latest CF Motos will be worth more percentage wise than the latest GS.
Anyway , there’s no point debating that in here as many are just out of touch with the real world .
