I need to get up to Chesterfield quickly on Thursday so I will need to use the M25 from Croydon can anyone tell me which is the quickest way to get to the M1 clock or anti clockwise.

shorter

to go M1 (M25 clockwise) but the section up by the M40 is a bit sticky at the mo. I would go up towards the M40 and see how its flowing. If it looks slow northbound you have the option of the M40.

M40 is lovely compared to the poxy M1

M1 is cool now the road works are finished at Luton.

However, if you go up A14 then you wont join M1 until up by the M6

M40 M42 A42 would put you on the M1 at Donnington. Nice run... Assuming you can get round the M25 to the M40 in the first place

It's all shite and arrse. Yer gunna hit traffic no matter which way you go. Road widening before the M11. ditto the M40, and miles and miles of cones. Normal crup at the toll crossing. Even the A14 option often tails back. Good luck.

what time are you setting off:nenau

clockwise then m40 just after the m25 m40 junction heading towards the m1bad road works

m40 = nicer and faster route:thumb2

Thanks everyone...

I think after all the advice which I really appreciate I am going to opt to go M25, m40. Stubbs I will leave about 6 mainly to ensure I am in time for my appointment, to collect a bike.
All you GS riders close your eyes now. Right for those with their eyes open having had a Varadero for 8 months I have decided to get another Blackbird and thats why I am off to Chesterfield. I know I should not be saying that on this site but having previously owned 4 of them I just miss the smooth controllable power.
I hope this won't prevent me from going out on the GS Rides in the future and whatever bike you own its still worthing being a member here as its such a brilliant friendly site.Do you think it would be wrong to put a ukgser.com sticker on a BB.

6am in the morning i'd go through the s/w of london and get onto the A308 at sunbury then up to jnc 13 of the M25 and around to the M40 .

From croydon should take 30 mins

at 6am you should be alright on the m25. If you can get to j 10 by 7 (which you should do at that time) then you will miss the start of the queuing, which usually starts about 7:15, unless its a friday when traffic is usually less.
Good luck !
