Trying to burn from the burn folder to DVD-R. Load a disc, Mac sees it, offers the various associated options for disc handling applicaitons wise, but whatever I do when I use the "burn" option, it still says to insert a disc.

This must be pretty simple, but I can't fathom it - any ideas?

Cheers.

I usually eject the disc and then put it back in when it does this...normally cures it.

Hmm - give it about half a dozen goes with a couple of discs, and it's still no dice.

Maybe a stupid question but does it need DVD+Rs rather than DVD-Rs?

I am (I think) reliably informed from several sources that Macs use the -Rs, not the plusses?

So it was a stupid question :)

Put it this way. I stood like a complete duck in PC World (i know, but they are cheap for discs) wondering what the difference between the red and blue packets was when they were both the same price.

Eventually asked a passing 8 year old assistant, who looked at me as if I'd asked "is it necessary to breathe to remain alive".

So if it is stupid, I'm waaaaay more stupidist than wot you is.

Yup - checked again - -R and -R/W, and def a DVD burner - cheers.

tbh I hate the mac burning software - much easier and better with Roxio Toast - brill to use, worth buying ...

Yep, get the Roxio Toast Titanium 7 and get 'em toasted easy, the softy is worth the cost :)

So I am detecting that Toast is the way ahead here then (no flies on me!)?

Why so good - whassit do that other stuff don't?
