Just bought an iMac which I love but need to send faxes. I have an Agere USB fax modem but can't find any Mac compatible drivers for it. Can anyone offer any suggestions.

All-in-one printer scanner fax device perhaps?

It'll take up some room, but if you have to have the inbound faxes come to your home number it'll be the easiest way.

Thanks but I need it to receive so this is not an option.

they do that as well. much simpler than pissing about with fax modems IMO.

edit: if you have to use your existing number, i think that would be a deal breaker though.

Try Apple

If you have just purchased the iMac I suppose you know that you have 90 days free support?
Call them thy are very good.

Macs in general do NOT like USB modems- they are much happier with ethernet ones, like my Virgin Media supplied type. Does it by any chance have an ethernet socket on the modem. Mac should easily recognise the modem if it does, and is connected via ethernet.
Try checking to see if your modem is in fact being seen by your Mac, by going to Systems Profiler, and checking for USB devices-unlikely it will see it, but it just might.
Also, you might find some info on the Apple website -there might be a generic driver that will work with your modem. Unlikely, but worth a try.
Good luck !!!
