Mac OS9.2 to OSX

I think OSX has a minimum requirement of 128mb of ram (although that's pretty useless - 384 is pretty much a usable minimum for OSX 10.3) ..

You can confirm your son's specs by using Apple Sytem Profiler (in Applications on 9.2 I think - it's been a while) and then have a look here to see if his machine meets the requirements.

I've had problems in the past installing on old machines with non retail osx discs - ie one that comes with your machine. If you need to 'evaluate' a retail copy of Panther then I'll send one to you if you like.

OS9 was good in it's day but has been eclipsed by OSX. A 350Mhz G3 iMac is very capable of running OSX but as others have said it will need more, much more, RAM. 64Mb is modest for any task even under OS9 and substantive improvements could be made just by upping the RAM.
