Check out Google. Seems there is a Trojan out there specifically targeting Macs. I first saw it mentioned in the technical section of the BBC news site. Dateline doesn't appear to be April 1st, so don't think it's an April Fools thing. I'm not sure of it's real import, and am hoping that some other peeps on here might be able to put the whole thing in a context I can understand.

If you do a software update you will download a Java update, I believe, from what I have read on another site, that that is the problem/fix.

AFAICS you need to run a couple of lines of code in Terminal to find out if you already have it.

details

if you have a new mac, that's only ever had Lion on it (not upgrade), and you haven't installed Java yourself, then you'll definitely be ok.

I looked at the link but am lost!!!

Is there an 'idiots' way to find out if you have it or not?

I have for a few months now been convinced there is something not quite right with my macbook. I am running Snow Leopard.

Thanks for the Heads up!

i think that is the only way to check short of installing an anti virus.

i'd say it's pretty unlikely that you do have it.

Check out mashable.com. Christina Warren. Search on Trojan. They've made it easy for you.:thumb2

Thanks for that Gypsy, just did that and my precious mac is not infected!

:thumb Steve.

Mine are clear also. Going to check out 3rd party anti virus software in the next few days. Never worried before but perhaps the time has come to take action.:thumb2

Mine is doing all sorts and can't connect to web now . It's been getting slower and slower and now keeps stoping the conec tion and won't open any pages:blast
Sending this from phone , not happy ! I'm not what you'd call a computer wiz :comfort

It could be one of many things, but as far as the Trojan is concerned, if you check out mashable as suggested above, and are infected there's plenty of advice out there to remove it.
