Hi all,I have a Macbook Air 13" (Early 2014 ) and am thinking of changing the battery as it doesn't last that long these days and when it gets to a low charge just switches off.

Have seen the YouTube videos on how to change it but was looking for recommendations for a reliable source of a new battery. They seem to vary a lot in price so was thinking that some might be cheapo copies not worth buying.

Any help gratefully received

Try Jon at Bramley Computers.

He's done loads of work for me and others on the site. May be worth giving him a call to see what his price would be.

Make sure you do a good backup before you do anything.

Ive used Jon twice for repairs. Last occasion was a new logic board for a MacBook. I dropped the laptop off at his house on a Saturday as I was in the area. I received the laptop back via Royal Mail Tuesday afternoon.

I replaced the battery in my MacBook Pro (early 2011) got a replacement from eBay. The price of a replacement original battery will be silly money. Get a decent 3rd party one, match the cell count and the mAh rating.

As for backing up I use time machine.

Changed my battery in my MacBook Air 2012. Really easy, it has been fine for over a year now, so no issues. I bought mine from Megamac.com they also provided the tools required.

Another good option, will check them out

Try doing it yourself. Look on ifixit.com. You'll need the model number from the back of the laptop. I've done a 2014 model year machine and it was fairly easy, just needs a bit of care.

Like others have said, get Apple to do it, its not that expensive, I have a 12" MacBook and its not a straightforward replacement, is Air the same?

Guess it depends on how handy you are, the MacBook air was dead easy, also replaced my IO board as the charging was playing up. Replaced my own battery and screen on my iPhone 6S as well. The company provide all the tools and it was just a case of following the instructions and undoing screws

Look at ifixit before making a statement like that. Some model are easier than others.

I had a 2016 MacBook Pro battery replaced by Apple last year - it was only £99 IIRC....
