Returned to the fold a couple of months ago and bought another 1200GS. Low mileage '08 with all the toys. Had forgotten how crap the original screens are, very noisey and loads of buffeting. Bought a second hand NN high and wide, but found the wind noise still too much. Sold it on for what I had paid for it. Tried riding without the screen, and hey presto, no wind noise and no buffeting, but the front of the bike looked a bit "unfinished". Had to decide whether to buy a cockpit screen or slipscreen from Nippy Norman and chose the cheaper cockpit screen. Found it much better than the standard screen, but if I sat up and didn't slouch, it was even quieter. Seeing that the slipscreen is a bit smaller than the cockpit screen, and I'm planning on keeping the bike for a few years, I forked out another wad of cash and bought the slipscreen. I now have no buffeting whatsoever, and it's much quieter, as the wind hits me at the top of my chest / bottom of my neck. I'm 6'5" and have a BMW high seat on the high setting. My bike's got a sat-nav mount over the clocks, which means the slipscreen can't be lowered any lower than max height minus one notch. Without the sat nav mount, it would be able to go lower and the wind would hit me lower down my body. All in all, I'm very pleased with it.
