Finally did the classic numpty move of pulling away with disc lock in place yeasterday. 2mph fall to the right and badly bruised pride.

Anyhow, I had Machine Art X heads fitted.

Unfortunately it sheared at all three attachment points and still allowed the head and plug cover to get a little marked. Wouldn't have minded the protector getting mashed as it's a sacrificial item in any case.

I had hoped for a little better protection, especially having seen the demonstration on their website.

Anyone else had similar experiences or was I just unlucky?

i had these fitted, but one got ripped off when a car turned into the side of me.
When i then checked the other one the upper mounting brackets were snapped, which i assume was due to general wear and tear.
Anyway, i ditched them , what a waste of money.

Ta both.

Looks like a good idea poorly executed.

The Mark2 version is constructed differently so should be better but once bitten, twice shy.

I have mailed the makers with feedback and will publish their response.

Mr B,

Sorry to hear my numptiness is spreading, mate. I trust you and the good lady are doing well? Long time no see, and all that.

Take care,

Matt

thanks for the warning. i was thinking of getting a pair as they do look good, but they are no use if they don't function as protectors after such a minor spill.
obviously i shall look elsewhere
cheers

Good outcome

Got in touch with the manufacturers. They've agreed to replace foc with the mark 2 version. The different construction should prove sturdier - failure happened where the bolts passed through very small lugs.

Machine Art said that they knew it was a design fault so if you have a set it might be worth getting in touch with them.
