Well he still has the BMW stamps. Because he stamped my service history last week.

paddy was telling me that bmw wanted him to move closer to dublin but he said he was going nowhere,
even if he lost bmw sales he still seems to have service and parts,which would mean he could go to england or germany get the best deal on bmw bikes new or second hand.which should make him more competive on price of bikes while still able to do service and warranty work
seen a lot of posts on different sites about this and maddocks have replied to some saying they are still dealers
dont know if they are or not but i would still think paddy would get you a bike or service it for you.
a lot of car dealers and losing franchises but keepint the service contracts as the inporters "restructer" there network due to the reduced size of the irish market.
i know wome small car dealers who can buy new cars cheaper off larger dealers than they can buy them direct from the inporter.
we live in interesting times

I wonder whare a nasty little story like that started? I have never dealt with Paddy BUT it would be a sad day for BMW riders if there was only one dealer within 100 miles. When I say that I never dealt with him it does not mean that I was never there. I have called in on occasion and he always has time for a chat and some free advice. JJH

very interesting, ive been hearing about this for quite a few months now but its finally nice to put some facts to the rumors

will he/she stand up and be reconised? I would rather buy a bike from Maddocks even if they were not main dealers than deal with a spoofer. I will be going out there soon. I will probly wreck Paddys head. JJH
I did not get the chance to go out to Maddocks but I got an email from him with new bm's for sale. So I rang him for a chat and he is still a dealer-new bikes in stiock warrenty, parts and service. Someone is talking rubbish. Last year a rumour went around that a certain big dealer could not pay their rent-funny but they are still here as well. Plenty of room for 2 dealers in the Dublin area and long may it remain so. JJH
I've been dealing with Maddocks for ten years now. I will agree that the work is expensive however I've never had to go back and get anything done a second time. He knows his stuff and the quality of his work is excellent. Peace of mind and confidence in your bike means a lot when you're heading to the boat for a biking holiday. I believe he's very competitive on tyres at the moment.
Paddy is a shrewd businessman. He's also a biker. Most Mondays he's scorching around Mondello Park and when he goes on holidays he goes on a biking holiday. He's an interesting character to talk and I hope he's around for a long time to come.

I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW GS1200ADV OFF HIM LAST SUMMER O9 AND ASKED HIM IF HE WOULD FIT A FEW PARTS THAT I GOT FROM NIPPY. NOW WAS NOT LOOKING FOR THEM TO BE FITTED FOR FREE BUT A BETTER PRICE THAN NORMAL AS I WAS PICKING UP THE NEW BIKE. NOW TO SET THE SEEN. I WAS IN THE SHOWROOM WITH MY 16MONTH LITTLE GIRL IN MY ARMS TALKING TO PADDY ABOUT THE PRICE OF FITTING AND NEXT THING HE SAYS" HOLD ON A SECOND " HEADS INTO HIS OFFICE COMES BACK OUT WITH A STANLY KNIFE WITH THE BLADE OPEN LIFTS UP HIS WRIST ,PUTS THE BLADE TO HIS ARM AND SAYS " DO YOU WANT MY BLOOD ". It'd be nice if you'd introduced yourself before going off on one at a dealer.
You bought your bits from Nippy Norman - so he gets the profit. If you'd bought the bits from the dealer, he could have sacrificed some of his profit to fit them a bit cheaper for you.
Oh and please don't type everything in upper case.

Hiding behind the identity of a newbie is a bit of a childish way to put your point across. Your not the first to moan about Paddy and oddly enough all the moaners were riding bike's they purchased from Maddocks, he must be doing something right.
I've always found Paddy easy and honest to deal with and would consider him to be a first class salesman.

i have seen no posts anywhere complaining about the service in maddocks.
most of the complaints i have ever heard have been about price,
as a late friend of mine used to say "if all you can complain about is the price its not to bad"

Just to put any doubters at ease if u look at the curent Bike Buyers Guide U will see Maddocks advertised along side the other 2 offical Rep. of Irl. dealers in the same ad.
As to prices as far as I know Maddocks are not cheap but I never heard him claim that he is.

You would probley run a 5 series cheaper than a 12 gs or any big BMW bike.
I think that is because bikes are now classed as leasure items and bikeing is a leasure activity. That dose not make it right but that is the way it is. You pays yer money ect.

Paddy stuck it out as a bike dealer while Murphy and Gunn, Maxwells and many more entered the market selling the bikes as toys. This wrecked the market and flooded it with cheap unused bikes. They are gone, so if you bought your bike there, good luck.

I wouldnt want a dealer to fit a few bolt on goodies to my bike, I would do it myself and enjoy the satisfaction of the result.
+1 for Maddocks, Its very rare that my bikes sit inside a dealer workshop but had no choice with the GT due to the warrantee. The Technicians at Maddocks kept the bike running to perfection.
