The previous owner of my bike had a K & N air filter fitted. I ditched it straight away and fitted the standard BMW filter. I assume there is a MAF sensor ? and just thought does that need cleaning now.

Is it easy to get at and will a high solvent aerosol cleaner do the job. (disc brake/car cleaner type).

Thanks

Will do, is it visible when you have the air filter out ?

Must be all the Christmas pudding I ate giving me these strange thoughts of jobs I must do.

Marki,

Thanks, I was wondering on that. My limited experience tells me it would be just after the air filter. I would have inspected the housing aft of the filter for dirt. I cannot remember seeing any MAF.

Thats put my mind to rest.

There is an air intake temperature sensor fitted to the airbox. Mass air flow is not measured.

Thanks Pukmeister, It was a few years back that I tried out one of those modules that fool the engine management into thinking the air inlet temp is cooler than it is. That was the sensor I was thinking of. Glad you reminded me of it.
