magnetic drain plugs

Have just done my first (DIY) oil change on engine/g'box/and final drive on my GS

Was under the impression (from the maintenance manual downloaded from this site) that both the gearbox and the final drive, would have magnetic drain plugs?

Only the final drive has one on mine, and not the gearbox

Should it have one or not?

By the amount of stuff stuck to the final drive magnet, I reckon the gearbox should have one!"

No, it's not supposed to have one. and it's not neccesary really.

Cheers for that info..... saves me worrrying about 1/2lb of iron filings (or even a wayward magnet) that may have been floating round in the gearbox!!

My 1100GS has one for the Bevel drive and one for the Gearbox!
