Main accelerator cable replacement question

Do I need access to the internals of the Bowden cable distributor box (no 1 in pic) to change the main cable (no 3 in pic)?

And does the fuel tank need to come off?

Yes and no, in that order.

You can get access to the box by lifting the back end of the tank and propping it up.

and the cable enters (lower cable) here. Cover is on the left of the box and will not open enough to disengage the cable

the box slides into grooves onto the airbox. From memory it will slide off (Just) to the left of the bike.

with the tank propped up its a bit more obvious.

Once off the airbox it can be tilted to gain access avoiding the restricted access caused by the ABS.

Cheers again, I'll try that later.

For the moment I've gone with the executive repair. That'll probably do me till 2015 or so
