Main Beam Adjuster....where??

there is no reason why you cant have multiple screens inside the lamp ... you could have 3 different screens inside each projector (since every country in the world accepts one of the 3 main light patterns) and simply have a small selector on the ouside of the lamp to switch screens. Or have one screen with a 15 degree down angle on either side with a flap on either side, sich that you can employ both flaps to get a flat cutoff, one flap to limit the cutoff to one side or the other flat to cut off the other side.

Its not like its complicated or difficult to do. And it would make sense for a bike which allegedly is built to ride around the world to have headlights which are useable and legal in every country it could potentially ride in.

Some HID projectors have the ability to have a 15 degree kink or a flat cutoff already - switchable on the outside of the lamp ... for driving on the continent, but why not take that to its logical conclusion and have 15 degree kink one way, flat or 15 degree kink the other way

Someone is going to have to end up cutting up a number of lights to see what can be done.

Colebatch - you seem to be something of the expert when it comes to lighting, I've followed various threads on HID's and, whilst they seem to be the ultimate answer to improved lights, I don't want to go down that road. I don't do much night riding these days anyway.
Simple question first - Why are H7's better than H4's? is it just later/better design of the lamp, or reflector, or what? I assumed they were just a single filament quartz-halibut!
I googled ECE 53 for info - Oops! loadsastuff.
Given that I don't want to go to the trouble/expense of HID conversion, or fitment of aux. lights - Which of the plethora of alternative blue/white/silver superduper megatastic H7 lamps actually work to give a real improvement?
I've seen H7 lamps for sale at £40 each!

Setting up GS1200 Headlight

A little info to help out taken from the manual.

Set up with the load adjuster mechanism up. (Normal Load)

1) Set the bike up with your usual suspension settings.
2) Position the bike with you sitting on it at 90 degrees and 10 metres from a vertical surface.
3) Measure the height from the ground to the centre point of the light (an assistant is an advantage).
4) Mark a horizontal line on the vertical surface at this height, and if adjusting left to right a vertical line in line with the motorbike so you have drawn a cross.
5) Turn on the light and note the beam throw (dipped beam), you are aiming for a horizontal line 15cm below the height of the inital measured height. (Horizontal Line).
6) To adjust the beam left/right, where the horizontal line starts to ramp up, this should intersect the vertical line of the cross you have drawn.

The vertical adjust is located in the rear lower centre section of the light.
The horizontal adjust is located to the rear upper right of the light.
