Main beam adjustment?

Is there any way to adjust the main beam seperately from the dip?
I can see fine with dip beam and it`s adjusted correctly but when I use main beam it doesn`t really throw the light much further, if it could be adjusted on it`s own it would be fine. Just fitted a Phillips x-treme bulb to main beam and it`s awesome but can`t be adjusted to throw the light far enough without dip being too high!

Where I live your lucky to have a white line let alone cats eyes and I need to see further up the road, I`m sure some will suggest extra lights but the headlight is fine if I could just adjust the B****yt thing.

Might be worth checking to ensure both bulbs are correctly seated. Might also be worth trying different bulbs, in case the seating flange isn't quite true.

Hacksaw blade down connection between both halves, will wobble a bit but could always use some plasters to give it a bit of strength.

Just tried that, checked the Phillips bulb was seated correctly and it is, maybe worth trying the original bulb again to see if there is any difference?

I'd give it a try. You could also try swapping the original bulb with the other lamp too, they're the same bulb.

Yes I know they are the same bulbs just tried swapping them all around and no luck, sure it`s the design of the headlamp.
Looks like I need an auxilary spot light!, don`t need a driving light as I`m more than happy with dipped beam.

Clutching at straws...

Try undoing one of the headlamp unit securing bolts; as you slacken it off, watch carefully to see if the lamp moves up or down. I don't think it's very likely, but the lamp unit might have had a knock which has twisted it in its mountings - assuming the bolts are tight, it would then have been held in this position.

Improbable, but it'll cost you nothing to check.

The reflector unit for both main and dip beams is one moulding and they can't be adjusted independently,...

Its a complete arse - but hey, the lights are so shite anyway adjusting them independently would make next to no difference...

Stupid question but what are FF50`s, how much and who best to fit them?
Didn`t want to go down the route of extra lights but think we are agreed that the headlight is crap! it`s not the power, bulbs are easy to upgrade and I have no problem with dip, it`s just that main beam doesn`t point far enough up the road, didn`t think it could be adjusted but was worth asking.

If you think the 800 is bad as far as the poor lights go, don't try a 1200, two candles would be better

I've got the Philips on mine and whilst being much brighter the throw is no different from the OE: mainly sideways......
