On my last few rides I've noticed a bit of a clanking chain noise from behind the front cover when its on fast tickover. I'm guessing that this will probably be the centre timing chain that lives behind the cover.
Is it likely that the tensioner (I assume it has one...) has lost some of its springiness and if so is it a big job to change it?
Or should I even be worrying about it?

.Fitted new anyway, no difference, but mine only rattled from the front when warming up, once hot it was fine. The tensioner operates just by oil pressure.This is on an 1150.So thought must be piston slap, but after using synthetic diesel engine oil the noise slowly stopped no idea why, probably just coincidence.
