A quick break for a week. On the way in the plane we realised we've been married 37 years and this was our FOURTH holiday.
Booked in to the Excelsior in Valetta. Far more plush than we are used to!

First night done. It is rather expensive. Budget is going to mean we go hungry from now on. £70 for 2 mohitoes and 2 bowls of chowder! We are unprepared for that. The trip was a cheapy last minute with Jet2, who have been brilliant. Their customer service is superb.

Looks good, Mrs FatAl and I have a week in Malta booked for late April. I'll try not to get caught for a £70 bill like that. Have a great time, I'm looking forward to you posting more pics as you go.

Most of the places are similar prices.

Day 2. We walked up to Valetta to see the Co cathedral of the Knights of St. John. Nothing can prepare you for what lies inside. Just incredible. No short term gain here, each Knight was devoted to the cause and to leave a lasting legacy for all mankind. The artworks are just stupendous, and meaningful. We left absolutely spellbound. Did nothing else but savour the assault on our senses. The marble floors, the paintings and the bronze/marble memorials are exquisite. Some of them date back to the Crusades.

Apparently due to the exodus of fighting age males from Russia it’s become a bit of an enclave, with consequent rise in prices.

Fantastic photos, hope you guys enjoy and make happy memories 👍

Looks good Simon and food parcel on its way and the British Red Cross have been informed.
Go fund me page not doing so good £2.50 so far plus a Guernsey £1 pound note.

Crickey...who gave the other £2.49. ?

Love Malta.

Could certainly retire there when the time comes if finances allow.

Good choice for a fourth Holiday, me and the Mrs are much the same, always too busy to get away together.

My Dad served there during the war. My sister and I said we would take him back for a holiday.
He declined the offer…. He would have said it didn’t look like that when he left it.

There was a recent documentary that looked at the Cathedral and how they keep on top of it all....the gold leaf on the walls etc...looked incredible on the tellybox....must be outstanding in 'real life' (y)
