Anyone know anything about cloaked malware?.
A piece of nastiness called bxd.exe, along with a few mates (bxX.exe) has appeared on my PC.Appears in MSCONFIG (startup) and regenerates itself at boot-up when disabled.Used a program called prevx.exe to find them, but it wont remove them without a paid license.Looking for a freeware fix or advice.Ta.

I have used Trendmicro Housecall very sucessfully in the past.
Free online scan and fix of problems.
need to to do full scan which takes hours but finds and removes most stuff.

I'm running an Ad-Aware scan at the mo;hopefully a free fix.

Some of these malware problems are more easily sorted by running a bootable antivirus, I use Avira but pretty much all the paid for packages include an option for a rescue disk.

On most networks the bootable antivirus program can get updates as well, then just leave it to chunter through the entire disk. As the malware program will not be running it can not protect itself either, and should be easy to get rid of.

Thanks for the advice (and PM) fellas. It appears that Ad-Aware has flushed the little buggers out as the BXD.exe didn't start up this morning.
Found Ad-Aware on www.majorgeeks.com;appears to be a useful site.
