I had a set of Mane Event Pannier Bags when I had my R1150RT and they where quite good. Looking at the Photos on Mane Events Web Site the R1200GS Bags don,t appear to be shaped to accomodate to awkward shape of the Nearside Pannier with it,s Exhaust "cut out". Can anyone please confirm if this is so. Also is there any problems with the "Zip In" extension which accomodates the Pannier,s expanding feature.
Thanks. Mike Tee.

The inner bags are not shaped and I have not experienced any problems with the extension zips. They are a very nice bags and well made.:thumb

Thanks Tommo, thats what I thought from the Photos. Does seem a shame though that Bike Specific Bags are not made to the exact shape of the Pannier (exhaust side). Seems to go against the whole reason of what they are about.
Thanks all the same. Mike Tee

I felt the same way. Might be worth checking out this thread ---> http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99397&highlight=mane+event

Thanks for the guide to the "other " thread Peter, makes interesting reading. I just can,t understand why so many people can be satisfied with a product which is supposed to be "Model Specific" and yet 50% of the Design clearly is not. Most of the "Buyers" seem to be only concerned with the overall Quality of Material and Construction and are blind to the fact that the Nearside Bag "doesn,t fit" !!. Mayby they just didn,t notice the lack of "specific shape" in the Mane Event photos and once bought, just accepted them. Me, I would have sent them back as "Not Fit For Purpose". Other Model Specific Bags in the Mane Event range do have various shape adjustments and Pockets to match Pannier Cases so what the ek happened ere !!. I won,t be buying these Bags as they are at present. We have a pair of very cheap British Airwys Cabin bags which are just about the same size and rectangular shape of the Mane Event bags so we will continue to use these in the hope that somebody will eventually produce a "true" Model Specific bag for the GS Vario Panniers.
Regards, Mike Tee

I agree Mike. When you're starting to build a new bag from scratch, common sense would suggest that they (Mane Event) could get one over the rest of the market by producing a truly 'bespoke' bag which is designed to fit all the nook and cranny's in that left hand box. Missed opportunity to my mind - and to some extent it's losing them sales.

Their call I guess .....:nenau
