Just a quick question.. Noticed the other day on the left side frame around the hole there is what look like manufacturing press marks around the edge of the hole.. original thought what could have cause these marks.. so check various other r1300 gs left side frame around the hole and have the same marks.. it seems it caused when the whole is pressed/drilled out during the factory manufacturing process of the frame leaving theses marks As any other r1300 gs owners noticed this or I'm I being to picky? got my r1300 gs booked into dealers soon to have the start switch gear replaced as been reports of water ingress on some r1300gs's.. but not sure if its worth mentioning my concerns over the possible manufacturing press marks around the right side frame hole.. as all the r1300's seem to have the same marks around the right side frame hole.

Can't say I've noticed

Thanks for the reply.. yes they all seem to be the same, suppose I'm being to picky.. at this price I expect perfection. lol... but at the price these bikes cost would have thought BMW would have a way of preventing this from occurring during the Manufacturing process of the frame.. would you not agree? funny thing is when I collected the r1300 gs I check it all over but did not noticed those imperfections around the right side frame hole.. only noticed then when I installed the Wunderlich frame bungs..

Tyzer.. I did not noticed at first.. until I installed the frame bungs.. so went on auto trader "r1300 gs for sale" then zoomed in on the pics of the frame on the left side on various r1300 gs models all seem to be the same with marks on the frame around the hole.. also noticed the same markings in this youtube clip fast forward to 7:58

IMG_7645.jpegMine is similar nothing to worry about as far as i am concerned, i did notice the other day that its not totally flush is something welded in at that point?!

It’s basically the end of a tube welded into the hole in the frame which is sheet steel, so there has to be some material there for it to be a strong joint, looks pretty cleanly done to me (y)

SiRich.. yes that's what I'm moaning about.. LOL Nothing major I agree.. but with all the Manufacturing technology BMW are supposed to be so good at.. surely they could have prevented this considering the r1300gs is the new flag ship replacement for the R1250 gs.. Suppose BMW consider this acceptable as must have passed their quality control as on all r1300 gs frames..

Leadfarmer.. that's a fair point with explanation.. but some seem to be better cleanly done.. as in the youtube clip I posted it's not as cleanly done as SiRICH pic of the frame hole. but like you suggested most likely unavoidable at the manufacturing process.

LOL.. Wish my hole was as good as your's 😁 have just bunged my hole with a Wunderlich frame bung feel a lot better now..🤪

I've done 6,000 moles on mine and it's been washed and polished to within an inch of it's life numerous times. It can't be that bad or I'd notice it 👍

That's a fair point.. I didn't noticed it either on mine until I installed the Wunderlich frame bungs.. I also have washed/polished and acf50 the r1300 gs more than a few times.. it's just me being a picky sod.. now I know there all the same I will put it to bed(y)
