Manx GP 25

L2RKE - Great pictures up there.....:beerjug:

I always wondered what happened to the Foggy/Petronas bikes. Do they still spew flames and petrol everywhere? I can remember REALLY wanting that thing to be successful....:blast

There was a street legal Foggy Petronas bike at the TT in June, maybe the same one!!

I should have looked at L2RKE's picture more closely. I had assumed that it was a race bike but, having read your post, I now realise that it's a road bike. Yes, quite possibly the same one..:thumb2

I remember seeing the race bikes close up but I can't remember where. I'm not sure that I have ever seen the road version in the flesh. I would love a chat with the bloke who owns that bike, what a great thing to own. I wonder what it's like to own one, how on earth do you keep such a thing running? I forget the homologation reg's for the time but I'm guessing 100 or so road bikes so I suppose there must be a few out there in museums etc - ASSUMING homologation was ever met!!

I did know all of this stuff but it's long been forgotten. I will Google it all when I get a minute.

Great day at Jurby😎IMG_20250824_135123_edit_167786523090020.jpgIMG_20250824_134918_edit_167707269698886.jpgIMG_20250824_134551_edit_167651258367124.jpgIMG_20250824_130129_edit_167513629079124.jpg

Interesting motors too.
Production version of Rover V8 Estate. Mustang Engined. Didn't know they existed🤔IMG_20250824_113052_edit_166953573641710.jpgIMG_20250824_122653_edit_166979748977643.jpg

Had a day off today and wandered around the Paddock Area. Lots of Riders wandering around.
Michael Rutter was dining out with the Clerk of the Course tonight on the next table to us. Great to see him up and about and looking well. Ok, so I’ve just got back this evening..from IOM… and …QUESTION…

I was wandering through the paddock yesterday and an Irish chap burst out of one of the prep areas and shouted if I had any “coppers”. I went into my pocket and pulled out 2 x 2p’s . He tried to give me a 50p, which I declined, and he insisted as it meant the 2p’s would be lucky. A friend shouted to him, as he ran back to his bike, why he needed copper coins and he shouted back that it was to fix the gears.

The 80 year old landlord of our b&b, who I think was something of a racer/ mechanic in his day, suggested that pre-1991 bikes had copper in their gearboxes (I might have remembered that slightly wrong) and so….

What the actual fudge was all that about???

These pics were mainly in the Joey Exhibition. Spoke to MD about his thoughts on the Norton he's racing. He said it's not fast enough. 😉IMG_20250826_160032_edit_211336889896396.jpgIMG_20250826_155437_edit_211507175604182.jpgIMG_20250826_160424_edit_211309069840150.jpgIMG_20250826_160753_edit_211247541605263.jpgIMG_20250826_160513_edit_211278137712030.jpgIMG_20250826_160357.jpg

A few days ago at 06.20am up the mountain looking down at Ramsey. The course was almost completely devoid of cars and bikes. Rode the full 37.7 miles. It was wonderful.View attachment 438998

Same view.

A TT course lap is slightly more of a 'challenge' on a Brompton push bike. My chosen mode of transport for flying (yeah right) lap a few year ago.

It's back on.🌞😎
Roads close at 6.00pm.
I bloody hope so. We cycled a half hr. to our Marshalls post. Wife got a puncture, then told the afternoon session is off. 😕 Puncture fixed. Try again.

BTW, what was your lap time?🙂

It took me exactly - all fecking day!! ....:D

Bray Hill was simply terrifying on 16" wheels and rim brakes, then Ramsey hairpin to the top was a right slog on a not very low lowest gear.

I wonder how quickly the 'proper' Manx cyclists, like Crutchlow and Cavendish, can get round?

I find it very difficult to get updates, was the lightweight the only race that went ahead yesterday?

Yes. Won by M Dunlop. Convincingly. There followed a parade lap by 80s - 90s stars on bikes and classic sidecars.
