Map CN Europe NTU 2017.3

Is there anyway of clearing the internal memory to enable the entire european map to load without using a MicroSD card? For instance deleting unused languages etc? I prefer to use the SD card for music files only.

My apologies, the North and South splits show up on the Nav5. However I do not have "Advanced Options" - the available map options are either "change map" or "reinstall map". Reinstall map only does just that. Up to 2017.2 I had the option to install to both PC and device, but that now seems to have disappeared.

I have the same problem, cannot find advanced option on my version. I have successfully updated on the nav v, but cannot select anything to update the base camp. Any help would be much appreciated. :beerjug:

I only get a choice of map options when an update is a available.
I'm using the Mac version 5.1.0.0 & still have the option to install to computer. The PC version will be different.

its no loner available to me on a windows machine either. GE updated itself. Lets hope they re add the option. Nice to plan without having to connect a devcice!

I might be being a bit thick here, but...

Is Tomcat saying that on a PC you can chose the option to install to:

A. A device only

B. A PC only

C. A device AND a PC

But only when you first do a map installation or do full subsequent Garmin released map updates.... but if you then just attach the device that's already had its maps intalled or updated (under option A) then the options of B and C are no longer there?

If so, chose properly between A, B and C in the first place.

OK, using the old version of GE, when you selected the updated map to be installed to the device, you could indeed select
option a:
option b:
or option c:. And it would install to both
Yesterday I updated but never got the option C or B. When the update finished, the latest maps were on my device and I could see them in basecamp. Soon as I disconnected I did not have access to the latest maps in basecamp. Only the older maps remained.
Today I have just re installed my maps to device using GE as I did yesterday, however as soon as it completed I got the option to do A,B or C as noted above.
Seems to be installing now...let you know if it works

This is weird - having installed the maps to the Nav 5 yesterday with the options missing as above (second red face moment - the "change map" option only appears on my Nuvi) I have just connected the Nav 5 to my PC - GE started up (same version as yesterday) and is now showing an option to install the map to the PC - it wasn't there before, honest guvnor!!

Edit - Well the option is there but when I try to use it GE says it is downloading the file but then stops with "There was an error installing the update"

Same here - and the install to PC option says that it will install MapInstall to the PC, which you should then use to put the map on your device.....but the map is already on the device.....what did the man say - if it ain't broke don't fix it?

Tried three times today (total of about 6 hours) to install the update to the pc...... nothing doing. So from here on in, just plugging in the sat nav, and doing my route planning on the maps on the Nav, on the computer:blagblah ... so frustratin.... 10 day route through Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France to plan for July.... can't fcuking wait :JB:moped:

As others have said, the option Tomcat describes at step 5 is no longer there.
GE version 5.1.0.0 on a macbook
After waiting 7 hours for my wet-string internet to download the map, it was installed to my Garmin 590 only. THEN. GE gives me the option to install it to my computer. Cue another 7 hour wet-string epic download.

What bright spark at Garmin decided this was a good idea :nenau if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

As others have said, the map on the device is in two parts. It would appear that the only difference between North and South is the high detail level of information. The basic map is fully present in both.

I haven't got round to using my "wet-string internet" connection for this year's update yet. Where are they making the split between North and South?

I don't know if Garmin have done something (I've been away in the Dolomites for a week) but the 2017.3 map will now install to my PC using GE.
