hi bought this sandisk 2.0 gb flash card from honk kong from ebay (had excellent feedback), when put into garmin 2610 which works fine with original 256 cf card, comes up map storage error. Have formatted the card via card reader i.e to FAT tried again no joy. Have scanned the card and checked for bad sectors etc all okay. Have also tried downloading mapsource via card reader which appeared to work fine , however garmin still cannot read the card-blast!!

I was wondering (long shot) that the card being a sandisk
ultra 11 may not be compatible with the 2610.
Any thoughts out there?:nenau cheers

Are you sure it's really a Sandisk... they are the most counterfeited card you can buy... a Hong Kong ebay source could be highly iffy. Loads of reporst of this on the Nikonians website.

if its a dud i didnt pay too much, however the site has 54 positives of selling cf cards no negatives.

Ive put the 2.0gb card in the card reader and it shows that the map i downloaded is in the card

Sandisk Ultra 11 2.0 gb

I’m sure I’ve read the 2610 doesn’t always like high speed cards

Thought I read in the instructions today that the 2610 will take type 2 cards. I am about to order a 4 Gb card for the maps, should I edge on the side of caution and go for the std card if available?
Cheers

Type II Compactflash were double thickness CF card with a micro hard drive in them. Not good on a motorcycle anyway as they self destruct with the vibration.

I would suggest a nice cheap, none accelerated card of around 2GB

managed to get a bog standard sandisk 2gb cf card off ebay uk seller for a tenner. the price of these things are tumbling fast as 4gb and 8gb appear :beerjug:

There was a link here recently about the fake cards. I bought a Sandisk Ultra11 last year and 6 months later discovered it was fake. It worked but presumably wasn't to the Ultra spec. I did get my money back.

Real Sandisk Ultra II cards will not work in a variety of different Garmins
