Having spent the best part of the day trying and failing to make up a route on Basecamp.... I then transferred what I'd got to the 660... to get the message that the routes need to be re-calculated as they were created on a different map....

This is beginning to piss me off.....

I've got lifetime mapping, and when I checked the 660 most of western Europe was on base map only.

Can I delete everything off the unit, and get rid of all the maps on the Mac.... and download it all over again so that any routes I calculate should be correct

Garmin need a slap for producing such a pile of shite

I had the same message the other week. I have the same maps on the 660 and my PC and yet it was still convinced I needed to recalculate the routes I transferred. I love Garmin.

Bryn i only use mapsource for making up routes, however i think similarly to basecamp there is a dropdown menu of maps on pc, need to make sure its same version thats on the device, then simply go in to the route and press recalculate before sending to the zumo.

Heres a tip for getting the maps on your pc up to date with garmin express, good luck.


how to install the update map onto the pc.

The zumo had the latest map installed on the device with a memory card so when garmin express trys to install or I click reinstall a map it install to the zumo.

I disconnected the zumo remove the memory card and plugged it back in.
Start Garmin express and select reinstall maps, it then says there isn't enough memory whick make it show a different screen asking to install partial maps. At the bottom there is a box that says device. Change this to pc instead of zumo and select full coverage map. It will then install onto the pc.

Thanks for that.. Will have a mess with it... As of 5 mins ago despite express saying my maps are up to date, and selecting maps on map installer to send to unit.. There are no maps east of France apart From the base map...

Just looked in my applications folder and deleted all maps ( that was clever ) now on express again downloading latest maps..

I can see me being on the phone to garmin yet again tomorrow.

I had a mare a few weeks ago trying to download a new 660. To be fair to Garmin, they were very helpful on the phone and sorted my problem. (in fact I think it was you that suggested I ring them ..!!)

They are helpful, but if they made stuff that was easy to sort we wouldn't need to keep ringing them ...

I think they've got me down as a caller of note
