Mapsource help please!

i am new to mapsource and have made a few routes and selected a few areas to download to my quest.

i try downloading it and it finds the device, builds some sort of list, erases old data, starts downloading then about 20% into it it stops and complains "There was an error communicating with your device. Please make sure your device is plugged in and turned on..."

note i did not touch it and i turned my screen saver off. using win XP with SP2.

Are you using a hub or is the USB cable straight onto the root usb??

(seems to make a difference sometimes....Mine did similar things, but stopped when I changed the USB port)

USB things don't behave rationally sometimes

USB in front of box... rebooting didnt help. seems to succeed on small transfers (20mb) but failing on larger...

further testing has revealed trying to load more than 20mb causes the problem outlined above.
