Mapsource V6.3 release

Just spotted Mapsource V6.3, released today 29th June. Fixes seem to be mostly language related, but route calculation looks interesting:

Changed software version number from 6.1 to 6.3.
Fixed issue with searching in multi-product families where a map from the wrong product could be shown behind the search result.
Fixed some alignment issues in the Japanese and Korean resource localizations.
Fixed issue where a route name with Asian characters could be corrupted when displayed in the route dialog.
Fixed issue where products with non-English characters could crash during a search.
Fixed issue where new Marine maps could crash because of new light colors.
Updated some route calculation parameters for more optimal routing solutions.
Fixed issue with searching in multi-product families where features from a non-current product might be ignored.

It would seem that everyone and his dog are trying to log on to the Garmin site for the update as I cannot seem to open the link

But when you click on it to open it, it says that the website you are looking for cannot be found?

Well this is all very new to me starting to pick up the basics .
I was advised to download latest update which I have successfully done & saved it .
So now what do I do with it how do I transfer it to mapsource or dont I do anything.

Easy one this Red, You probably saved it to your desktop. So all you need to do is double click it and it will run, find your mapsource and update it. I have done it on a few computers and the slowest one only took a minute for it to work.

Good luck. By the way you can delete the downloaded file afterwards...

Sorry Richie you've probably guessed I'm not too good at this.

Ok I have now saved the Mapsource version 6.3 10.74mb to my desc top but when I click on it it say 1.95 mb if I double click nothing happens right click I have the usual choices run send to etc .
My question is how come it now says only 1.95 mb & not the original 10.74
How do I transfer to the mapsource I have the short cut on the desctop to it when clicked it opens up the map for routing etc.
This must sound so pathetic to you computor wiz guys & gals but to me oh dear .

Try downloading again to your desktop. Then simply double clicking it should enable it do the rest for you no problem.

Incomplete download?

If I understand you, the downloaded file is 1.95mb in size. If so you have an incomplete download - easiest thing is to delete the file and start again. Go to the appropriate place on the Garmin site and start the download. When the option to 'Open' or 'Save' comes up, choose 'Save' and a box will open (see below). You then select where you want to save the file and go and have a cup of tea.
When the file had finished downloading, find it (you DO remember where you saved it, right?), double click and it should update Mapsource to the latest version. The shortcut to Mpasource on your desktop shouldn't be affected. Any problems, let us know.

Well I for one have always been mystified by the calculations. I regularly get "faster routes" that are shorter than the "shortest routes"!!
