Can you not use Garmin's Basecamp?
It's taking over from Mapsource, which Garmin will no longer be updating.

It's available from Garmin's website.

can garmin express take the links members here put up with route?

i dont care what one i use so long can add routes and plan routes.

cheers

Garmin Express is for updating your mapping and GPS firmware. Basecamp is for route management on your PC and for sending them to your GPS.

Both programs perform different tasks, though I believe that Basecamp can connect to Garmin servers and update your GPS firmware if you ask it to do so.

ok so get basecamp instead of mapsource and garmin express keep maps and zumo updated?

Basecamp has replaced Mapsource. You can still use the latter (download it here) but it hasn't received any updates since late 2010 whilst Basecamp will be updated as and when Garmin feel it's necessary. There may come a point in the future where Mapsource ceases working. If you're a died-in-the-wool Mapsource user then fine, however, if you're not familiar with either it's best to use Basecamp IMHO.

Garmin Express will keep your mapping updated on your GPS and your PC as well as keeping the firmware and other files on the GPS current. This program is new and not universally liked/adopted as yet. Apparently there are a few issues that need sorting out, can't comment as I've yet to use it. You can use the old Garmin Updater instead if you prefer (find link to that here).

ok cheers,

think will try get time at weekend and download both, download my new maps and play around with it.
