I have posted in the wanted section to see if anyone has an old pair of standard seats sitting in a loft/ shed/ garage etc that I can borrow or buy (cheaply) to get the bike back on the road.
The recovery and alteration of mine has been delayed and run over on time and may yet be considerably delayed.
Localish to me is preferrred but willing to except tatty but useable seats and or any of the guffing colours that BMW seemed to love so much

Well the seats are going to be ready today so for all those who made the generous offer of loan seats it looks like I will not need to take you up on your kind offer.

Standard rails but someone in the past has added tie down points

Saddlecraft in South Shields, took a bit longer than usual but their work quality wise is excellent.
Probably done 15 or 20 seats for me over the years and they are always better comfort wise than stock .

Bit of a change since November, as well as paint and seats it has had a full service including brake caliper strip with replacement braided lines ,pistons and seals.
Now has a powered sat nav bracket ,new tyres ,the scuffed rocker cover on the left was replaced, standard pegs fiited and also an uprated Bosch alternator ,fuel quick disconnects, external fuel lines and fuel filter plus a few other cosmetic items.
Will be adding heated grips and spot lights at some time in the future but for now it just needs used, problem is I am getting to prefer messing on with them rather than riding them in the UK

what happened to the red colour or am i missing something?
The last picture was as I bought the bike in November last year
Bloody thing is proving an absolute lump to move around in the garage , it's wet weight is supposedly 20 or so kgs lighter than my r1250gsa but feels about 50kgs heavier when trying to shift it ..

Has ride out on my R1150GS today around southern Northumberland, still nice to ride despite being well down on horse power compared to it’s modern stable mate.
Well went out early this morning and did 60 odd miles to check it out as I only did a short test ride when I bought it last year.
Fuel pump is a bit whiney, gearchange is typical esrly 1150 and slow but reasonably positive, handling is neutral but rear shock could probably do with a refresh as it feels a bit saggy.
Refurbished seat is comfortable and with the bar risers fitted it is nice to ride although I may look into an MRA screen as there is a bit of turbulence with the one fitted.
It was bloody cold this morning so it definitely needs heated grips but other than that it is just like the 1250 only slower
