Dear all,

On my 1995 R100GS/PD I have the Marzocchi? inserts available from HPN.

I was wondering if someone could suggest a good fork oil consistency.

At present I think the fork oil (can't remember thickness) may be a bit thin as the adjustable compression/rebound settings vary only slightly between full settings.

Many thanks

The oil supplied with them is 10 wt full synthetic.

Synthetic is naturally multigrade , so stays in grade longer than dino, and it is slippier too.

There isnt a lot of adjustment availible, but with a Ohlins with the #80 -450 lb spring on the rear they are just about spot on at the stock setting of 10 clicks out -+ two clicks, I have rebound out 8 and compression out 12, and the Ohlins 15 mm preload and 8 clicks out.

Jesus H..all this for an airhead  ;)

A well set up paralever bike is a joy to ride, a generation ahead of anything you can do to a Mono.

But , imho, there is more piffle written about suspension than the rest of the bikes put together

I have spent a lot of time and effort getting the suspension on my bikes working really well and I dont mind passing on my settings if someone is asking.

I have found that a extra couple of bucks spent on the best synthetic fork oil is money well spent - there is a noticeable improvement in fork action and damping, and it will stay in grade longer too.

I currently have Bel Ray HVI 3 wt full synth shock fluid in the G/S forks, and 5 wt Bel Ray synth fork oil in the R75/7 with good results.

Many thanks for the advice- Cheers:beerjug:
