Massif Central - Where as a Base and Routes

Some really good tips already in the thread. Not a spoiler, but do take bike locks. Chaining bikes together is best.
I had a GS stolen from Grenoble*, but Calais, Reims and other cities are really bad atm for GS thefts.
* from a ‘secure, gated and security camera monitored hotel parking…another BMW was taken the same night, with many expensive bikes ignored. They are targeting BMW..
I now have an HD Abus chain lock AND a disc lock with audible alarm. A pain to carry even more security than normal, but better than having a trip ruined, and insurance going up!

The whole area from Clermont F down to Beziers is brilliant for biking.

Glad to hear Dijon is nice. We’re staying there next Wednesday night. Not been to Dijon before so looking forward to it. It’s a trek from Rotterdam but hopefully we’ll have enough time for a look around.

yes, lovely place for a stopover

this Trinidad bar was near our Hotel des Ducs and they had a late afternoon happy hour or two serving lovely mojitos for not much cash

Plenty of other bars & eateries in the small Place du Theatre, a short distance from the pretty tourist traps of Place du Liberation and Palais des Ducs.
