Massive Helmet Required!

It took me 2 and a half years and a hell of a lot of hunting to find a helmet that even came close to being semi comfortable for an hour. I am a measured 64.5 cm and seem to be very long front to back.

2xl's from arai, shoei, suomy, agv, nolan, hjc, kbc and just about every other helmet maker available in this country either would not go past my ears or be almost instantly painful (about 50 helmets in total). I found an arai 3xl profile (iirc) but that was really painful after 20 minutes.

I eventually imported a cheap!!! hjc cl-max 3xl from the states (not available here) on a gamble and almost last resort and found it fitted reasonably well when new. But after it broke in there was a seam that became very painful across the top of my head after about 45 minutes.

I used the HJC to pass my test 2 years ago.

I am now on helmet number 4.

1: hjc cl-max 3xl
2: 2nd cl-max 3xl (as back up)
3: held tokato 3xl
4: schuberth c3 3xl

The are an increasing number of 3xl lids available now arai, shoei, schuberth, vemar, held, hjc and a few other i forget atm. So I am looking for a 5th, 6th or even more helmets to add to my collection.

The right one is out there. You just have to have the patience to find it. Good hunting:)

Nice one all, gone with an order on a Held 3XL thanks to Big Si's link.

my big held helmet turned up today, very nice, and best fit i've found to date. a little tight at the moment (i know they r meant to be a close fit) but the least discomfort going over the ears ever and hoping for a little padding compression over time. thanks for the advice.

So here it is against a backdrop of a 42in TV, pretty big helmet eh?

OK, TV is 26in, keep telling the Mrs a 42in wouldn't spoil the view but she's not having it.

Looks good in the red, mine's in the black/grey/white. Glad you like it:)

It's got to go with this Si (not that my other gear does).
Thanks for the info.

If anyone's up for a new BIG System 5 I have a new one to sell. Size 64/65. It has a small nic taaken out of the plastic surround where BMW fitted the bluetooth receiver but I've now removed that. Never worn (other than to try it on). One of the last.

How does £100.00 posted sound?

Shoei Neotec II. They come out bigger and comfy and because the neotec is a flip it slides on easier.....brilliant helmet

C3 pro

I hope whoever bought it off me has retired it by now!!

Mad seeing this thread pop back up......the Held has long gone and had a C3 pro for a few years now. The flip thing is the right way to go for me and my head. Have done 4 touring holidays in Vietnam riding 10hr days and it’s been great. Clip from 10th March 2020 just before we had to make a sharp and unplanned exit (also the only wet day).
