Yeap, just got the machine........7k miles yellow/grey/grey.Spoked wheels, carbon hugger. BMW panniers with givi top box and BMW tank bag. This one had a new gearbox at 5300 miles, but apparently no other faults.

Ok all you happy 1200 men, what sort of gas consumption, what oil consumption...................what sensible extras should I buy !!!

I am determined not to turn it into a christmas tree but do want some must have options.:D

I have already bought a headlight cover . H&B engine bars and Tobinators.mainly coz i'm off to scotland friday for 5 days with a group of sports bikes(roll on Torridon). Figured i'd need that stuff to save breaking the headlight (which I did on VFR last year) and for sure playing on the forest roads up where we are staying i'm bound to let it fall over !!!!!:D
I have ordered a low seat and will have a standard seat for sale grey if anyone wants to pay £65 for it (a new one is £114 plus vat)
Well the little G/S will take it's rightful place now and become anice toy to ride occassionally:D

Congratulations on your fine choice of a motorcycle :D

Petrol consumption - varies but most get at least 45 mpg.

OIl consumption varies even more - mine was using 4 litres between services (ie every 6000 miles) for the first 12,000 miles, but I think I may have been overfilling it a bit. Now it's settled down to maybe 2 lites every 6k. Make sure you check the oil after a decent run to avoid bogus low readings.

How tall are you? When I first got mine I had the standard seat in the low position but as I got more confident with the bike I found i prefer it in the higher position. So unless you're sure you won't need it, maybe hang onto your seat for a month or two ...

vertical challenge

Mouse my 29" inside leg (on a good day:D ) means that i'm on tippy toes with the standard seat. I'm ok with that but as i do a lot of 2 up and loaded its a little more security the more of my foot I can get on the ground. Solo is no problem, hey i can always jump off !!!:D

Kind of a selfsolving problem there, no?
With pillion & luggage the back gets pushed down and you get more grip :P

Congrats and have a lot of fun on both!

I'm waiting for the 12GSa before I trade in my 1150. I'm in no hurry as I mostly ride the G/S anyway :D

Cheers,
Michel
