Ok, so i may be asking a not so smart question, but here goes.....

I have a Garmin SP2610, which by design is quite old now, does this mean that it will be limited as to the max size CF Card it will recognise, ie 2GB limit? Or will it continue to recognise larger and larger sizes as they are developed?

I'm sure some of you electrical guru's out there will know the in's and out's of this?

Cheeeeeers

:beerjug:

IIRC PanEuropean said it's not the ma size but the number of map tiles that is the problem. Seems to me that CN v8 has less tiles so hopefully the 2610 will remain useable for a while yet. I guess where it will become a problem is when more and more POI's are in the mapping and you searh on a common item eg esso petrol stations. There again I might be completely wrong.:(

I have read of 4GB cards working ok but since the whole of CN8 fits on a 2GB card with space left thats the one I went for:D

Guess i'm just pre-empting the possibility of CN9 being too large for 2gb card... i want to be sure i buy big enough.. pending any confirmed facts regarding sizes for CN9

Is CN9 really that much bloated?

You can chuck all of CN7 to the card with oodles of space for all your routes. Even better you don't need to buy a high-speed CF card, so can buy a less expensive one.

Make sure you can return it if it doesn't work in your SP2610. Not all CF cards are equal.
