Hello all, sadly owing to a badly failing hip joint, I am finding it increasingly difficult to ride my R1200gs due to the weight ect, so am considering selling it & dropping to a F650gs, so seeking advise on the value of my bike. Its a 55plate with around 12k from new, its yellow & fitted with abs heated grips, bmw topbox, & a few good extras, overal condition is 8 to 10. Its mot is due shortly, so will have a new mot & is taxed. Rides as it should with no problems. Indicators on its value appreciated & thanks in advance for the tips & replys.

May have to sell my bike

Think this should be in the, How much is my bike worth section,

Hello matey, sorry to hear about the hip problem, but glad to hear your not giving up, although if youre talking about an early 650 single, try one first, theyre quite heavy as well!

Best advice is to look up on something like ebay/mcn/biketrader etc...

You could also look at the dealer websites, then knock a grand off what theyre asking...

Alternatively you could trade it at a dealer?? Dont be put off by the negative comments on here about them, they are struggling at the moment, so now could be a good time.

Also, dont forget its not the price they offer you for your bike, which is sometimes very low, but the deal overall, i.e. what discount you can get on the bike youre buying...

Good luck!

Somewhere around £5000 would be my guess

Advertise at £4995 and aim for as close of possible would be my advice

Hi mate, i was going to have to give up biking about 18 months ago due to bad hip pain and only being 49 years old reluctant to have a hip replacement, anyway to cut a long story short had it done last november and never looked back pain free new GS triple black and loving it i read up on everything you need to know about a hip replacement so if theres anything you want to know pm me im only happy to help good luck.

Bike.

Thanks for the positive
replys fellas, I dont really want to get rid of it, but if its only going to make 5k i will leave it in the garage where it seems to spend most of its time lately but having a f650 gs before, which i also enjoyed, thought i may be able to keep riding, as they are a touch lighter & as i dont really want a new hip yet either, its just getting so painful for an hour or twos worth of enjoyment. Thanks for the info George, am pleased your hip replacement worked out, but owing to an accident a few years ago, i suffer from an immune dificency, so have to be a quite careful when it comes to a cut and shut...!
