Just seen the MCN video - Adam Chiles or whatever his name is, is such a total knob and the other two are even worse!
Why?? Haven't you ever taken a GS on track... It's fun..![]()
If it makes you feel better in the video the MCN guy said the GS was best![]()

Why are so many getting defensive? Do you like your GS/GSA? If so who cares what a paper/mag says?
Well said IMHO Its all down to personal choice at the end of the day, if you're happy with your bike who cares what anyone else says.
I used to buy MCN every week but gave up a few months ago when I realised I'd been able to flick through and read anything meaningful while I was still in the queue waiting to pay for it! I still have a look though and bought the last few issues as they had GS related features. The latest test didn't seem at all balanced, with barely a sentence mentioning any (or lack of) off road potential.
The latest 'Adventure bike' craze seems to have resulted in manufacturers producing a load of machines that look the part but are incapable of even mild off road usage. Surely then they are just more sports tourers, at least the GS range and one or two others (ktm springs to mind) have a bit more to offer should the need or want arise.

but the great majority never venture off road, so the percentage devoted to it is probably about right.
golly! i never thought i'd say anything vaguely positive about mcn![]()
Luckily BMW, for all their faults (IMO) do give damn good test ride opportunities so we can all go and try for ourselves.

Granted, most people won't venture off road but that doesn't mean the capability of the bike to offer that ceases to exist. If you are going to conduct a 'group test' and compare the attributes of various bikes then at least make that test balanced.
Surely any 'adventure bike' should be at least capable of some mild off road use, if not then isn't it just another sports tourer? Manufacturers seem to be cashing in on the latest trend and bringing out bikes that look the part but thats about it. Or something!
