MCN group test going on @ mo

Just seen the MCN video - Adam Chiles or whatever his name is, is such a total knob and the other two are even worse!

Anyone able to scan the test in and email it out to folks interested in the drivel that was written as I can't square it to part with £1.99 to read 3 or 4 pages.....?
Cheers

Why?? Haven't you ever taken a GS on track... It's fun..:thumb

many times ,nurburg ring too ,........my hp2 is a propper track day weapon ,an adventure bike isnt ,good fun yes, untill you come up against someone handy on a 600 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!then you find out real fast its limitations ,

Oh well as the kawasaki is faster and cheaper I suppose someone should close this webste, see ya all on UKVersys.com :thumb

Why are so many getting defensive? Do you like your GS/GSA? If so who cares what a paper/mag says?

If it makes you feel better in the video the MCN guy said the GS was best :thumb

Thank god for that, I was dreading owning a bike as ugly as the Versys, now someone at MCN rates the GS again I will go and cancel my order :blast

Good point on who gives a toss what someone else thinks of your bike, all I know is I want to ride mine all the time, and as I have not got finance on the "latest and greatest" I can still afford some fuel to do so!

I will change at some point, but will want a long demo of each offering before making my own mind up, I read reviews primarily as entertainment but do take in any observations from testers as they may pick up on something I could miss on a test ride.

Generally they do not even mention what is important to most owners (especially of these types of bikes) where we would rather know about comfort on an eight hour riding stint, luggage capacity and function, and although I am interested in fuel consumption it is not when the bike is doing speed testing :blast

Luckily BMW, for all their faults (IMO) do give damn good test ride opportunities so we can all go and try for ourselves.

I can't believe it took them 9 hours to get from Peterborough to Matlock !

It even took them 90 minutes to get from Donington services to Matlock FFS

What did they do - push them there ?

:thumb2 Well said IMHO Its all down to personal choice at the end of the day, if you're happy with your bike who cares what anyone else says.

I used to buy MCN every week but gave up a few months ago when I realised I'd been able to flick through and read anything meaningful while I was still in the queue waiting to pay for it! I still have a look though and bought the last few issues as they had GS related features. The latest test didn't seem at all balanced, with barely a sentence mentioning any (or lack of) off road potential.

The latest 'Adventure bike' craze seems to have resulted in manufacturers producing a load of machines that look the part but are incapable of even mild off road usage. Surely then they are just more sports tourers, at least the GS range and one or two others (ktm springs to mind) have a bit more to offer should the need or want arise.

but the great majority never venture off road, so the percentage devoted to it is probably about right.

golly! i never thought i'd say anything vaguely positive about mcn

To be honest I've found that all bike dealers I've been to (Triumph, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and of course BMW) have offered great test ride opportunities, and I wouldn't buy a bike without having tried it for a few hours first :thumb2

Granted, most people won't venture off road but that doesn't mean the capability of the bike to offer that ceases to exist. If you are going to conduct a 'group test' and compare the attributes of various bikes then at least make that test balanced.

Surely any 'adventure bike' should be at least capable of some mild off road use, if not then isn't it just another sports tourer? Manufacturers seem to be cashing in on the latest trend and bringing out bikes that look the part but thats about it. Or something!

i think it's just a better looking tourer that's easier to ride across the grass to my tent than an RT.
