Its in today's copy , so all you tight arses , nipp into WH Smith and have a reas Standing next to some kiddy feeder reading Trains monthly !! It Looks very good

We are not being tight.......just watching the penny's so we can afford to buy a GSA........so be a sport and scan the pages to here please:fiddle

It is not a review, more of a 'come to the Altar at BMW'.........oh, this is such a perfect motorcycle, oh one of the best selling and most advertised.........oh, just wonderful and so so perfect.

Don't waist your money buying MCN like I did. Save the £2.10 towards your deposit.

Those MCN cnuts will tell you anything you want to hear, it all depends on which bike company is buying the most advertising this month ! :blast :comfort :augie

That's a bit like saying the only reliable review or reference of something comes from a biker, preferably one who rides a GS. Nothing else is to be trusted, no sir.

No sir, i disagree, MCN has always been thus. Who chucks the most dosh into their coffers gets the good review of their bikes.Always has and always will be the way. Why do you think that most peeps think its no more than a rag ?

It has always been the same in publishing - I used to work in the Hi-Fi industry years ago and it was common practice for audio equipment manufacturers to pay to get good reviews and there were plenty of journos at the time who would take the money, no one in the game believed much of what was written in publications like Hi-Fi News etc. It was so easy to get away with in that industry because audiophiles talk(ed) such utter bollix anyway :D

Well, leaving aside that you have no idea of the balance sheet / revenues of MCN, it's not hard to see that that sweeping statement does not entirely stack up. If we take this week's rag with its report on the launch of the 1200 GSA as a sample, there is all but zero advertising for BMW. The largest significant blocks of space are taken up with full page advertisements for:

Triumph

The London Motorcycle Show, headline sponsor MCN, so they are in a very loose sense paying themselves to plug their own product

Arena Cross UK, I have no idea what that is

Next week's addition, same comment as the London show

Several pages of private and trade sales

A couple of pages of insurance brokers, bike breakers, tat sellers and 'stuff'

A Triumph backed competition

On that reckoning, BMW have done exceedingly well.... A half decent review apparently (I haven't read it) for naught.

PS As to your 'rag' observation. As I cannot fathom why many bikers hold the opinions they do on a range of topics, I'll just lump their opinion on MCN (or indeed anything else) into the same bucket. If pushed to guess though, they were told to think it by somebody else, probably their mate's biker mate's mate down the pub or in Tesco's car park. So they do. They are not exactly sure why as, like TV, they never watch it it.

PPS In the interest of fairness, last week's rag with its R9T headline feature and the R1200RT launch was remarkably similar:

Triumph, again

Suzuki

London show, again

Next week's edition (shrunk to half a page)

Private, trade and tat sales etc.

Arena Cross, again

Yeah, but its stealth advertising, wait and see over the next few weeks, id bet that BMW will have a lot more lineage in the rag. The article itself is a sort of advert is it not ? :thumb:augie

Of course its a great bike! It's cost mega millions to develop so there wont be anything wrong with it. Folks will gripe about details and others will crash it and try to blame a tank slapper. But all the others in the same category** will be all just as good but with different details to moan about on here.

**I hate biker categories. It either suits your taste or it doesn't. Get over it.

What a load of bollocks:rolleyes:

Yeah yeah all the nae sayers will come out of the woodwork now too defend the rag. After all you all need to justify to youselves thr need to be beta testers just like all those who just had to be first too get a toilet. Wait for the queue of peeps waiting to give adolf back his bikes lol.
